Sandy Level………Glenda Gay Stockner Matherly, age 70 of Sandy Level died Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at her residence.

Born May 8, 1950 in Hillsville, she was a daughter of the late Fred Walden Stockner and Minnie Hill Stockner.  She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd Hampton "L.H." Matherly, Jr.; one brother, Wayne Stockner; and two sisters, Guida Preston, and Slyvie Stockner.  Mrs. Matherly was a retired accountant with Young's Moving and Storage; and she enjoyed going to yard sales.

She is survived by two sons, Daniel Matherly and wife, Tiffani of Sandy Level, and Jonathan Matherly of Reston; three step-sons, Dean Matherly of Chatham, Ricky Matherly of Snow Creek, and Chris Matherly of Sandy Level; one step-daughter, Rhonda Shelton and husband, Carl of Gretna; one brother, Gerald Stockner of Hillsville; one sister, Virgie Lyle and husband, Eddie of Boone, NC; 7 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2020 at the Matherly Family Cemetery by Elder Eddie Lyle.
