Hurt………..Gladys Frances Brumfield Ward of Hurt passed away October 11, 2024 at her home on Sky Blue Acres. Born July 7, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Albert Brumfield and Ruth Vasser Brumfield.

Gladys was married to her childhood sweetheart; Addison "Scrap" Ward, on March 1,1947 and celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in March of 2022. Gladys was a Christian of the Baptist denomination and was a member of Motley Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, nana, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She loved spending time on the farm, working in her garden, cooking, sitting on her porch, and spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by one son, Donald Dean Ward, Sr. and wife, Wanda; one grandson, Donnie Ward. She was also predeceased by Avis Brumfield, Edgar "San" Brumfield, Hazel Dolan, Morris Dalton, Joyce "Fay" Dalton, and Marvin Brumfield.

She is survived by two sons, Kyle Ward (Judy) of Forest and Roger Ward (Donna) of Hickory, NC; two daughters, Susie Newman (Howard) of Hurt and Glenda Queener (Rob) of Hurt; one sister Eliza Adams of Gretna. She was the loving Nana to eleven grandchildren: Melissa Williams, Kelly Daniel (Wes), Addison Ward (Kim), Bridgett Moon (Patrick), Maricia Bradner, Jodie Ward (Donnie's Wife), Howard Newman Jr., Michelle McNelley, Sarah Thorn (Doug), Erin Johnston (Chris), and Tiffany Giles (Joey); 26 great grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren (and one on the way).

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 14, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Joseph Giles and Pastor Mitch Etheridge. Burial will follow in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.

The family would also like to extend their deepest appreciation to Valeria Rowland and Centra Hospice for all the care and support they offered. Memorial donations can be made in memory of Gladys to Centra Hospice.
