Sandy Level…….George "Pete" Willard Powell, age 76 of Sandy Level died Friday, March 10, 2017 at his residence.
Born September 6, 1940 in Clarksburg, WV, he was a son of the late Lucian Benson Powell and Darlene Davis Powell. He was predeceased by one son, Gary Powell; two brothers, Billy Powell and Bobby Morgan; and one sister, Peggy Hornberger. Mr. Powell was an Army Veteran and a Lithographer for the U.S. Can Company. He enjoyed NASCAR, driving, hunting, fishing and camping.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Bennett Powell of the residence; four sons, George Thomas Powell and wife, Erica of Danville, Robert Lee Powell and wife, Shawna of Toledo, OH, Joey Powell and wife, Lisa of Baltimore, MD and Johnny Powell and wife, Melanie of Baltimore, MD; one daughter, Tiffany Nicole Robertson and husband, Justin of Roanoke; two brothers, Harold Richard Morgan of Sandy Level and Dewey Devon Morgan of Baltimore, MD; twelve grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Liberty Christian Church by Pastor Jyrone Denny.
