George Coleman Smith

Martinsville.........George Coleman Smith, age 87 of Collinsville, VA. died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
Born May 27, 1923 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Robert L. Smith and Cora Payne Smith. He was predeceased by his wife, Pauline Lewis Smith; two brothers, Herman A. Smith and Dudley Smith; two sisters, Susan Smith and Mabel Bowling Frazier. Mr. Smith was a retired furniture finisher for the Lane Company, an Army veteran of WWII. He was an expert refinisher & upholster, he also enjoyed his church and his fishing.
He is survived by a sister, Gracie S. Curry of Eden N.C. and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m Friday, Sept. 3, 2010 at the Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Roger Graves, Sr. and Rev. Doug Bray. Burial with military honors by the Virginia National Guard Honor Guard will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m Thursday at Colbert Moran Funeral Home.
