Gretna…….George Paul Ramsey, age 85, of Gretna died Monday, October 17, 2011 at his residence.
Born October 12, 1926 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late H. Morris Ramsey and Beatrice Towler Ramsey. He was predeceased by his wife, Florence Myers Ramsey, and a brother, Russell Ramsey. Mr. Ramsey was owner of George Ramsey Construction Company, and was a member of Greenbay Christian Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by two sons, Wallace Ramsey and wife, Glenda of Sandy Level, and Steve Ramsey and wife, Sandy of Danville; one sister, Iris Cocke of Gretna; five grandchildren, Nick Ramsey, Morgan Oakes, Scottie Ramsey, Tracy Ramsey, and Paulette Ramsey; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden by Lee Ashley, Minister.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
