Gretna…..George Washington "Wimpy" Myers, age 100 of Gretna died Monday, September 9, 2013 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.
Born September 12, 1912 in Pittsylvania County he was a son of the late William Madison Myers and Minnie Kate Boaz Myers. He was predeceased by his wife, Victoria Roberts Myers; and eight siblings. Mr. Myers was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gretna and was a retired mechanic. He was a member of the Anderson Lodge 258 A.F. & A.M. for over 70 years, and a member of the Gretna Chapter No. 118 Order of the Eastern Star. He was also a member of the Scottish Rites, and enjoyed wood working.
He is survived by one son, Wayne Myers and his wife, Kay of Gordonsville; one daughter, JoAnn Johnson and her husband, Tommy of Gretna; two brothers, Jack Myers of Gretna, and Tom Myers of Vernon Hill; one sister, Kate Tickle of Dumphries; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 P.M. Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Gretna by Rev. Jonathan Hilliard and Rev. Lynn Marstin. Burial with Masonic Rites by Anderson Lodge 258 A.F. & A.M. will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
