George W. McAlexander

Gretna…….George Washington McAlexander, age 83 of Gretna died Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born October 1, 1929 in Patrick County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Will McAlexander and Eva Shelton McAlexander. He was predeceased by his wife, Penny Elaine Wilson McAlexander; two brothers, John McAlexander and Robert McAlexander; three sisters, Martha Thomas, Dolly Sink and Rosa Belle McAlexander. George was a retired employee of Fieldcrest Mills and was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed bowling, gardening and all the nurses at Gretna Health & Rehab.
He is survived by one brother, Willie McAlexander; one sister, Bertha Barker of Pittsville; nieces and nephews and a special great-nephew, Charlie Cook.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Liberty Memorial Cemetery by Rev. R.G. Rowland.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 P.M. Monday, February 4, 2013 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of his niece, Priscilla Cook, 257 Ben-Annie Road, Gretna.
