Sandy Level……….George "Sonny" Howell Batts, age 78 of Sandy Level, died Tuesday, December 2, 2021 at his residence.

Born June 16, 1943 in Durham, NC, he was a son of the late Ollie Britton Batts and Edna Walters Batts.  He was predeceased by one brother, Larry Batts; and one sister, Barbara.  Mr. Batts was a Navy Veteran and retired from IBM.  He enjoyed working on and building hot rods.

He is survived by his wife, Betsy High Batts of the residence; one daughter, Jennifer Bunting of Garner, NC; two sisters, Candace Sherd and husband, David of Indiana, and Edna Earle Guikema and husband, Phil of Florida; and two grandchildren, Faye Lopez and Anderson Bunting.

Memorial services will be conducted at a later date.
