Sandy Level……….Gary Wayne Powell, Sr. age 44 of Sandy Level died Friday, April 18, 2014 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Born August 2, 1969 in Baltimore, MD he was a son of George (Pete) Powell and Catherine Bennett Powell of Sandy Level. He worked in construction; and loved hunting, fishing, camping, and the outdoors.
In addition to his parents he is survived by one son, Gary Wayne Powell, Jr. of Richmond; his fiancée, Lisa Thomas Powell of Sandy Level; two brothers, George Thomas Powell and his wife, Erica of Toledo, OH, and Robert Lee Powell and his wife, Shawna of Toledo, OH; one sister, Tiffany Nicole Robertson and her husband, Justin of Roanoke; one grandchild, Candice Nikole Powell of Richmond; and nieces and nephews including a special niece, Brittany Nicole Powell.
A memorial service will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 21, 2014 at Liberty Christian Church by Dr. Paul Stone.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
