Gary Edward Hunley, 58, of Altavista, died suddenly on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at his residence.
Born October 26, 1954, in Altavista, he was a son of Kathleen Burnette Hunley of Altavista and the late Earnest Lance (Bud) Hunley. Mr. Hunley was a member of Central Baptist Church and an employee of Westminster-Canterbury. He was also a member of Altavista Moose Lodge and cherished the many friendships he made there.
In addition to his mother, survivors include a daughter, Tara Hunley of Gretna; his wife, Betty Hunley; a brother, Bob Hunley and his wife Kristal of Altavista; a granddaughter, Cati Hunley; a niece, Nikki Elder and her husband Mike; a nephew, Ryan Hunley; two great-nieces, Briana Shelton and Amber Shelton; a great-nephew, Gavin Elder; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 28, 2013, at Central Baptist Church, Altavista, by the Rev. Michael Duncan, Jr. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna, and other times at the residence of Bob and Kristal Hunley.
