Gretna…….Garnett Brown Rowland, age 87, of Gretna passed Sunday, February 26, 2017, at her residence.
Born July 24, 1929, in Halifax County, she was a daughter of the late Archer Thomas Brown and Ora Maude Shelton Brown. She was also predeceased by her husband of over 61 years, Willard Rowland; six brothers, Richard Brown, Harry Brown, Carlton Brown, Stacy Brown, James Brown and Melvin Lacy Brown; and two sisters, Janie Brown Ragsdale and Virginia Brown Terry. Mrs. Rowland was a member of Greenfield Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She enjoyed canning, crocheting, and sewing. She also enjoyed her flowers and her vegetable garden.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia D. Rowland of Danville; two brothers, Glenn Brown of Riceville and K. B. "Billy" Brown of Graham; and one sister, Violet Brown Clark of Lynchburg.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at Greenfield Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. R.G. Rowland.
The family will receive friends following the service at Greenfield Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
