Gretna………Katie "Gail" Mayhew Thompson, age 81 of Gretna passed away Monday, June 29, 2026 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.

Born January 25, 1945 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Norris Graham Mayhew and Ruth Barbour Mayhew.  She was predeceased by one sister, Geneva Goad.  Mrs. Thompson retired from Klopman Mills.  She loved going camping, reading, listening to Blue Grass music and traveling.

She is survived by her husband, Bailey Thompson of the residence; one sister, Brenda Robertson and husband, Raymond of Pittsville; one brother, Roy Mayhew of Pittsville; nieces, Jessie Robertson and Gretchen Robertson; nephews, Dwayne Robertson, Dereck Robertson and Edward Robertson; and special cousins, Walter Osborne and wife, Donna.

Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden by Lee Ashley, Minister and Rev. Ricky Hogan.

The family will receive friends at the residence.
