Gretna……...Frederick (Freddie) Foster Pierson, age 75 of 4752 Blue Ridge Drive, Gretna died Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at his residence.
Born March 3, 1938 in Charleston, West Virginia he was a son of the late Roderick Mayo Pierson and Virginia Saunders Pierson Thomas. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Lee (Bobby) Pierson. Freddie was owner operator of Fred's Electrical & Heating for over 52 years. He was an active member of Piney Grove Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Secretary, in charge of church maintenance and sang in the choir. He was a graduate of Renan High School, enjoyed woodworking, singing with the Staunton River Boys, and driving his 1992 Ford Ranger that had 690,000 miles.
He is survived by his wife, Stella Vaughan Pierson of the residence; one son, Rodney Pierson and wife, Elizabeth of Troutville; one daughter Lari Scruggs and husband, Keith of Gretna; two grandchildren, Justin Pierson of Troutville and Brandon Pierson of Troutville.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 at Piney Grove Baptist Church by Rev. Matt Speck and Rev. Lynn Marstin. Burial will follow in Altavista Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
