Gretna, VA………Franklin "Frankie" Dwight Howell, age 70 of Gretna died Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born February 26, 1946 in Pittsylvania County he was a son of the late James William Howell and Myrtle Dellis Howell. He was predeceased by three brothers, Delmos Hiler, Sr., Kenneth "Pete" Hiler and Milton Hiler. Mr. Howell was a member of Greenfield Baptist Church and a member of the Greenfield Community Center. He was an Army Veteran of Vietnam and a member of VFW Post 873. He was a farmer; and a founding member of Georges Creek Hunt Club and Georges Creek Shack.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Z. Howell of the residence; one son, Rusty Howell; and one sister, Nancy Moore and husband, Jimmy.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2016 at Greenfield Baptist Church by Rev. R.G. Rowland. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
