Gretna…….Frank Douglas Saunders, age 85 of Gretna died Sunday, October 17, 2021.

Born August 7, 1936 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late John Hurt Saunders and Betty Blanch Brown Saunders.  He was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth Saunders and Elizabeth Divers; five brothers, Holsie Saunders, James "Brack" Saunders, Otis Saunders, Henry "Leo" Saunders, and Earl "Bunny" Saunders; and two infant brothers.  Mr. Saunders retired from the Lane Company.  He loved traveling, fishing, and going to all of the Gretna High School sporting events.

He is survived by two sons, Ricky Lee Saunders and wife, Tammy of Gretna, and Daniel Saunders of Chatham; three daughters, Katie Updike and husband, Norman of Gretna, Rebecca Moore and husband, Joseph of Sutherlin, and Megan Ravenell and husband, Ryan of Burlington, NC; one sister, Betty Jean Bolling and husband, Raleigh of Gretna; ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Pittsville Pentecostal Holiness Church by Pastor Thomas Lee and Chaplain Nathan Snider.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
