Hurt…..Frances (Susie) Moorefield Rowland, age 93 Hurt died Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.
Born March 13, 1919 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late William Monroe Moorefield and Olivia Roach Moorefield. Mrs. Rowland was predeceased by her husband of 57 and a half years Melvin Vernell Rowland, they loved each other and were always together and happy. She was proud to be a farmer's wife, and lived for the LORD. She was predeceased by four brothers, Frank Moorefield, Herman Moorefield, Jim Moorefield, and Carter Moorefield; and three sisters, Minnie Shelton, Ethel Hodnett, and Willie Crews. She enjoyed being a house wife, doing for others, working in the flowers, and mowing her grass as long as she was able to. Mrs. Rowland also enjoyed being the giver and not the taker. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church, WMU, and was a Sunday School Teacher. She was also the financial secretary at the church for 30 years, and a graduate of Renan High School.
Being the last survivor of her immediate family she is survived by nieces, nephews, and their extended families.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 5, 2012 at Midway Baptist Church by Rev. Dr. Lynn Marstin, and Rev. Brian Faison. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
