Frances Barnes Bennett

Gretna......Frances Barnes Bennett, age 86 of 8053 Climax Road, Gretna died Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Bennett was born June 1, 1924 in North Carolina, the daughter of the late Philip Barnes and Minnie Craddock Barnes. She was predeceased by a brother, Harold Barnes and two sisters, Millie B. Burton and Helen B. Cook. Mrs. Bennett lived all of her life in Gretna . She retired from Leggetts Department Store during the last year they were open in Chatham. She was a member of Siloam United Methodist Church and enjoyed sewing.
She is survived by her husband, R. Henry Bennett, Sr. of the residence; one daughter, Virginia B. (Jenny) Webb and husband, Dave of Gretna; one son, Richard H. Bennett, Jr. and wife, Rosemary of Danville; one brother, C.D. Barnes of Blairs; one sister, Phyllis B. Wade of Lillington, NC; three grandchildren, Adam J. Bennett of Danville, Katie Bennett of Danville, and Nicholas Webb of Roanoke; one great-grandchild, Britney Bennett.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010 at the Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. George Schaefer. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Christian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her daughter, Virginia (Jenny) Webb, 8125 Climax Road, Gretna
