Frances Elizabeth Barrett Barbour, age 83 passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Chatham Health and Rehab Center in Chatham.
She was born March 6, 1930 near Renan and was the daughter of the late Johnny Barrett and the late Elizabeth Emerson Barrett. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred Thomas Barbour; a half-sister, Lula Emerson, her step mother, Sis Bennett Barrett, and a stepson, William Gordon Barbour. Mrs. Barbour was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church of Renan and was a retired employee of J.C. Penney, Inc. of Durham, NC.
Mrs. Barbour is survived by two sons, Donald Ray Barbour of the Southside Virginia Training Center, Petersburg and Kenneth Wayne Barbour of Phoenix, AZ. She is also survived by her half-sister, Ruby Lovelace of Penhook; and two nephews and a niece.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Gretna Burial Park by Pastor Steve Johnson.
The family will be at the residence of Aubrey Bennett, 1277 Old Mine Road, Chatham, VA.
