Altavista ………Florence Lee Brooks, age 95 of Altavista formerly of Hurt died Friday, April 5, 2019 at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born September 10, 1923 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Dave Brooks and Mattie Keatts Brooks.  She was predeceased by three brothers, Thomas Brooks, James Brooks, and Nat Brooks; four sisters, Dollie Brooks, Virginia Wilson, Catherine Thompson, and Alice Brooks; and a special niece she cared for, June "Sissy" Brooks.  Florence was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy of Cody, where she served as a former Sunday School Teacher and was a CPMA leader for many years.  She was a home maker; and enjoyed caring for the elderly, flowers, gardening, and canning.

She is survived by one brother, Marion Brooks and wife, Frances of Gretna; and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

Graveside services will be conducted 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Straightstone Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Ava Mitchell.

The family will receive friends at the residence of her nephew, Randell and Wendy Brooks, 1396 Izaak Walton Road, Hurt.
