Evelyn Gibson Callahan, age 94 of 2196 Grit Road, Hurt, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018 at her home.

She was the wife of the late Caryll P. Callahan.  She was born November 7, 1923 in Altavista to the late Walter Lewis Gibson and Bessie Logwood Gibson.  She was also predeceased by two sons, Ronald Douglas "Ronnie" Callahan and Glenn "Moady" Callahan; and one granddaughter, Angie Callahan.  She was a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church.

She loved working in the yard and planting flowers.  She also was a loving mother to her children and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Robin Callahan; a daughter-in-law, Pat Callahan; a sister-in-law, Linda Gibson; two grandchildren, Bradley Callahan (Stacy), and Sherman Callahan (Lindsey); one step grandchild, George Gordon (Rhonda); and three great grandchildren, Kody, Madison and Chase.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Altavista Memorial Park by Rev. Wyatt Miles.

The family will receive friends following the service at Monte Vista Baptist Church.
