Altavista……….Evelyn Hines Bailess, age 82 of Altavista died Monday, June 8, 2015 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born June 30, 1932 in Chatham she was a daughter of the late John Millard Hines and Lou Shields Hines. She was predeceased by four brothers, Edgar Hines, Bernard Hines, Doug Hines and John Henry Hines; five sisters, Ollie Fox, Eula Wiles, Cora Edwards, Florence Shelton and Clara East; a grandson, Brad Millard Saunders; and her life partner, Tommy Lee Francis. She was of the Baptist Faith and was a homemaker. She loved flowers, music and her Lincoln Continental. She loved dogs and raised Doberman Pinschers and Rottweilers.
She is survived by three sons, Tony Crews of Hurt, Scotty Bailess and his wife, Carolyn of Hurt and Danny Bailess of Hurt; two sisters, Aleen Nebb of Norfolk and Frances Bivens of Danville; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Lee Ashley, Minister. Burial will follow in the Hines Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her granddaughter, Katina Crews, 9289 Blue Ridge Drive, Hurt.
