Gretna…….Evelyn Barbour Andrews, age 90 of Gretna died Saturday, December 2, 2017 at her residence.
Born April 22, 1927 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Curgie Daniel Barbour and Julia Mitchell Barbour. She was predeceased by her husband, William Wyatt Andrews, Sr.; one sister, Clella Farmer Proctor; four brothers, Lewis Steven Barbour, Dudley Barbour, Garnett Barbour and Artis Ray Barbour; and a son-in-law, Jerry Showalter. Mrs. Andrews was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and retired from Craddock-Terry Shoe Corporation after 20 years of service. She was an expert seamstress; and enjoyed reading, singing and gardening vegetables and flowers.
She is survived by three daughters, Alice Showalter of Danville, Kathy Andrews and Ken Holley of Danville and Dr. Sandra Andrews of Gretna; one son, W. Wyatt Andrews, Jr. and Louis Grue of Rockville, MD; one brother, Everett Barbour and Carrie Barbour of Clarksville; five grandchildren, Mark Showalter, Jennifer Shadrick and David Shadrick, Paul Showalter, Nigel Holley and Dr. Austin Holley; five great-grandchildren, Rebecca Shadrick, Zachary Shadrick, Annabeth Shadrick, Kira Showalter and Kayla Showalter; three sisters-in-law, Cathleen Andrews of Gretna, Atheline Barbour of Martinsville and Nannie W. Andrews of Gretna; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Zion United Methodist Church by Pastor David Edinger, Rev. Harold Thornton and Ramsey Taylor. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
