Gretna…….Eva Lee Perkins Hammack, age 83 of Gretna died Monday, February 18, 2013.
Born October 9, 1929 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late, Henry Lee Perkins and Sallie Neal Perkins. She was predeceased by her husband, James A. Hammack, Sr.; three sons, James A. Hammack, Jr., Garland Ray Hammack, and Troy Lynn Hammack; one sister, Evelyn Farmer; and five brothers, Berkley Perkins, Curtis Perkins, David Perkins, Charlie Perkins, and Eugene Perkins. Mrs. Hammack was an employee of CAPPS Shoe Corp. She enjoyed working with flowers and spending time outdoors, especially in the summer.
She is survived by one son, Tracy D. Hammack of Gretna; one daughter, Shirley H. Barbour and husband, Ronald of Chatham; two brothers, Johnny Perkins and wife, Gaynell of Danville and Harold Perkins and wife, Charlotte of Baltimore, MD; two grandchildren, Darren Barbour and wife, Sharon and Angela Hammack; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the Colbert-Moran Chapel by Larry Owen, Minister. Burial will follow in Greenfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her son, Tracy D. Hammack, 315 Ray Mill Road, Gretna.
