Ethel Mae (Polly) Worsham

Gretna……….Ethel Mae (Polly) Worsham, age 93 of Gretna died Wednesday, March 16, 2011 in Virginia Baptist Hospital, Lynchburg.
Born March 5, 1918 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Henry Randolph Worsham, and Ethel Blair Worsham. Ms. Worsham was predeceased by five brothers, H. Blair Worsham, J. Norman Worsham, Paul Worsham, Frank Worsham, and John Worsham; three sisters, Ruth Miller, Isla Worsham and Dorothy Moorefield; a nephew, Randolph Worsham; and a niece, Barbara Skorija. She was a retired administrative assistant with the US State Department Foreign Service and was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ms. Worsham was an Episcopalian, enjoyed art, museums, and volunteering at the White House and traveling.
The last survivor of her generation, she is survived by five nieces, Dale Phillips, Helen Barbour, Ann Shortt, Wren Abramo, and Nancy Johndrow; and many great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Straightstone Baptist Church by Rev. Paul Woodward. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the service at Straightstone Baptist Church, and other times will be at the residence of her niece and nephew, Helen and Paul Barbour, 841 Camp Branch Road, Gretna.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1160 Pepsi Pl, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
