Obituary

Gretna………Ethel Smith Clay, age 99 of Gretna died Thursday, May 3, 2018 at her residence.

Born April 14, 1919 in Madison County, Florida, she was a daughter of the late Elisha Henry Smith and Kevie Jordan Smith. She was predeceased by her husband, Earl Fiveash Clay; one grandson, Clay Powell; one brother, E.H. Smith, Jr.; and two sisters, Rossie McLeod and Rosalie McLeod. Mrs. Clay was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church, a member of the WMU and was a retired nurse. She loved flowers, enjoyed gardening and was a great seamstress.

She is survived by two daughters, Libby Phillips and husband, Rev. Gary Phillips of Gretna and Cindy Powell and husband, Randy of Coward, SC; three grandchildren, Angi Webb and husband, Brian, Jeni Jefferson and husband, Montie and Abby Powell; and three great-grandchildren, Jordyn Jefferson, Colt Jefferson and Calvin Webb.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Sycamore Baptist Church by Rev. Gary Phillips.  Burial will follow in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
