Gretna...........Etha Mae Tucker Shields, age 97 of Gretna died Friday, March 23, 2018 at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born November 22, 1920 in Dillion, SC, she was a daughter of the late David Tucker and Minnie Herring Tucker.  She was predeceased by her husband, Roncie Verte Shields; and her daughter, Evonne Cook.  Mrs. Shields was a member of Piney Fork Baptist Church; and was a former employee of Dan River Mills and the Lane Company.  She was the last remaining survivor of her immediate family; and she enjoyed canning, sewing, crocheting and flower gardening.

She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Rowland of Gretna; two-grandchildren, Warren Cook of Pittsville and Stacy Cook of Gretna; six great-grandchildren, Cynthia Cook, Brandy Cook, John Cook, Denton Cook, Kendall Thomas and Charlie Cook; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by the Rev. R.G. Rowland.  Burial will follow in the Shields Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her grandson, Warren Cook, 5144 Pittsville Road, Pittsville.
