Gretna……….Verna Estelle Walker Doss, age 85 of Gretna, died Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born January 18, 1939 in Henry County she was a daughter of the late Clem Walker and Lessie Elizabeth Rigney Walker. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Paul Doss; one son, Jeff Doss; one grandson, Dylan Adkins; and two brothers, Jack Walker and Nathan Walker. Mrs. Doss was a member of First Baptist Church of Gretna and was a home maker. She loved reading her bible, going to church, especially the weekly Pep lunches at First Baptist. She also enjoyed sewing and watching Westerns.

She is survived by one son, Joey Doss and wife, Susan of Gretna; one daughter, Jennifer Doss of Altavista; one sister, Ruby Thacker and husband, Billy of Martinsville; a daughter-in-law, Patty Sue Doss of Pittsville; three grandchildren, Christopher Doss, Jamie Doss Roach and husband, Barnabas and Savannah Mitchell Porter and husband, Larry; and one great-granddaughter, Samuel Roach, Stephanie Roach and Oakley Porter.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Danville Memorial Gardens by Rev. Bob Ballance and Rev. Bobby Brumfield.
