Ernest Alonzo Powers, Jr., age 77 of Gretna died Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.

Born April 29, 1947 in Dover, NJ, he was a son of the late Ernest Alonzo Powers, Sr. and Eleanor Jean Hill Powers.  He was predeceased by his wife, Irene Tierney Powers.  Mr. Powers was a retired police officer with Mt. Olive Township, NJ, a retired member of Smith Mountain Lake Fire Boat and a retired member of the U.S. Coast Guard.

He is survived by one son, Ernie Powers and wife, Tina of Wilson, NC; one daughter, Tracey Warren and husband, John of Harristown, IL; one sister, Carol Black of Saxton, PA; and two granddaughters, Tierney Powers and Cailin Powers of Wilson, NC.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
