Emma Payne Edmunds

Altavista..........Emma Payne Edmunds, age 98 of Altavista formerly of Gretna died Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Autumn Care Nursing & Rehab in Altavista.
Born November 8, 1911 in Orlean, VA she was a daughter of the late, Shirley Payne and Carrie Lena Ball Payne. Mrs. Edmunds was predeceased by her husband, Frank Elmer Edmunds, one sister, Beulah Orrell; three brothers, Deweese Payne, Shirley Payne and Jack Payne. She was a retired office supervisor for the US Marine Corps, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Gretna. She enjoyed decorating, reading and traveling.
She is survived by one sister, Margaret Fleming of Manchester, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Gretna by Rev. Jonathan Hilliard and Morgan Allen. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her niece and nephew, Sandra and Andy Walker, 4681 Roark Mill Road, Hurt.
