Chatham……...Emily Ruth Poe Ritter, age 87 of 525 Motley Road, Chatham died Friday, October 16, 2015 at her residence.
Born April 27, 1928 in Bluewell, WV she was a daughter of the late Crockett Edward Poe and Virginia Lee Peters Poe. She was predeceased by her husband, James Allison Ritter; one son, James "Jim" Ritter; three brothers, Harold Lee Poe, Roger McKinley Poe and Gerald Stanley Poe; and two sisters, Callie Mae Stoots and Norma Lee Wimmer. Mrs. Ritter was a member of Cornerstone Church of Christ and was a retired CNA. She enjoyed working puzzles, flowers and gardens, was an avid reader of the Bible and loved spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by one son, Gary L. Ritter and his wife, Kathy of Eden, NC; one daughter, Deborah Hearn and her husband, Buddy of Chatham; seven grandchildren, Kevin Ritter, Shannon Robertson, Kelly Benczi, Scott Hearn, Donny Ritter, Tonya Caldwell and Leandre Gerwin; and 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 19, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Bob Paddock. A private burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell, WV.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 9 to 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 19, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
