Danville……..Emily Parker George Mathlery, age 98 of Danville died Friday, October 7, 2022 at her daughters residence in Mooresville, NC.

Born May 1, 1924 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Esther Parker and Martha Craft Parker. She was predeceased by two husbands, first the late Gary Hilton George and then the late Isaac Ezell Mathlery; one brother, Edward Parker; and three sisters, Ester Beasley, Helen Owen and Hilda Basham. Mrs. Mathlery retired from Dan River Mills and was a member at Blairs Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and loved baby-sitting her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Janice George Holt and husband, James of Danville and Lynne George Phelps and husband, Philip of Mooresville, NC; three grandchildren, Jamie Holt and wife, Michele, Janet Durham and husband, Wayne and Scott Phelps and wife, Michelle; three great-grandchildren, Parker Holt, Hallie Holt and Emily Durham; and four step-great-grandchildren, Desiree Durham, Brianna Durham, Dalton Smith and Addison Smith.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Gretna Burial Park by Rev. John Lester, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2022 at her residence, 4024 Suburban Dr. Danville, Virginia 24540.
