Gretna……..Elwood Thomas Bolling, age 84 of Gretna died Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Centra Gretna Medical Center, ER.
Born November 15, 1931 in Pittsylvania County he was a son of the late Allie James Bolling and Lady Elsie Bennett Bolling. He was predeceased by one brother, J. Herman Bolling; and two sisters, Hilma Massie and Doris Jacobs. Mr. Bolling was a member of Siloam United Methodist Church and attended First Baptist Church of Gretna. Elwood retired from Virginia Department of Transportation and also drove a school bus for Pittsylvania County Schools. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Cundiff Bolling, of the residence; one son, Raymond Bolling and wife, Judy of Gretna; two daughters, Sarah Oakes of Metter, GA and Linda Caulder and husband, Lee of Fort Mill, SC; four grandchildren, Susan Oakes and husband, Andy, Brittany Oakes, Kaitlyn Caulder and Camden Caulder; and one great-grandson, Joshua Oakes.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Gretna by Rev. Jonathan Hilliard. Burial will follow in the Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, November 11, 2016 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
