Gretna……Elva Haskins Atkins, age 95 of Gretna passed away on Monday, June 14, 2021 at her residence.

Elva was born in Chatham, VA on September 13, 1925, to the late Odie Anderson Haskins and Alice Watson Haskins.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Randy Atkins; one son, John Denton Atkins; one brother, Mickey Haskins; and one sister, Octavia Doss.  She was a home maker and long-time member of New Bethel Church of the Brethren.

Mrs. Atkins is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Atkins Marlowe of Gretna, VA; one granddaughter, Jessica Ashleigh Burgess (Adam) of Chatham, VA; one brother, William B. "Pete" Haskins (Judy) of Chatham, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 2021 at New Bethel Church of the Brethren by Rev. Terry St. John, Rev. Curtis English, and Donnie Moore.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 2021 at New Bethel Church of the Brethren and other times will be at the residence.
