Hurt……….Elton Vance Overstreet, Sr., age 82 of Hurt died Sunday, January 4, 2015 the result of an automobile accident.
Born February 6, 1932 in Bedford County he was a son of the late, Frank Lee Overstreet and Norma Scott Creasy Overstreet. Mr. Overstreet was predeceased by a son, Roger Overstreet and seven brothers and sisters. He was a retired Supervisor with the Lane Company and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He loved driving around and visiting friends and family and being around babies and kids. Elton was a New York Yankees fan and stayed up many nights to watch his team play.
He is survived by his wife Ira Mae Joyce (Ann) Overstreet; one son, Elton Overstreet, Jr.; two daughters, Joy Moore and Deneen Dalton; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Chris Brooks. Burial will follow in Altavista Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of his granddaughter, Jennifer Bell, 125 Bells Drive, Hurt.
