Gretna………Elsie Emerson Bennett, age 86 of Gretna passed away Sunday, May 11, 2025 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born February 28, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Henry Emerson and Georgianna Tuck Emerson.  She was predeceased by her husband, Terry Jackson Bennett; a daughter, Betty Sue Bennett; a sister, Mary Pendergrass; and four brothers, Eddie Lee Emerson, James Emerson, Spencer Emerson and Rugy Emerson.  Mrs. Bennett was a member of Summersett Baptist Church and she retired from Craddock-Terry.  She loved cooking; and attended PACE Gretna for many years and enjoyed her time there.

She is survived by four sons, Michael Meeks and significant other, Sandra of Gretna, Oscar Meeks and wife, Donna of Gretna, Lyndon Meeks and wife, Rose of Gretna and Larry Meeks of Gretna; one daughter, Dianne Meeks of Gretna; two sisters, Julie Hendrick of Asheville, NC and Willis Jennings and husband, Robert of Danville; five grandchildren, Teresa Meeks, Ashleigh Meeks, Daniel Meeks, Benjamin Meeks and wife, Candice and Wayne Meeks and wife, Ambrie; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Jason Andrews and Rev. R.G. Rowand.  Burial will follow in Liberty Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Lyndon and Rose Meeks, 11085 Rockford School Road, Gretna.
