Gretna……Ella Doss Pickrel Davis, age 95 of Gretna passed away Friday, October 23, 2026 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born January 25, 1931 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Bruce Irvin Doss and Effie Worley Doss. She was predeceased by her husband, Gene Carroll Pickrel; a granddaughter, Leighana Faith Malpass; great granddaughters, Ava Cook and Isabella Cook, two brothers, Irvin Doss and Bobby Doss; and one sister, Wynonia Preston. Ella was a member of Gretna Christian Church and she enjoyed speding time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Tim Pickrel (Renee) and Mark Pickrel (Marie); two daughters, Susan P. Rowland (Benny) and Sarah P. Malpass (Wayne); grandchildren, Kathy Cook, Karen Newby (Josh), Beth Keesee (Ben), Zach Malpass (Caroline), Laura Ferguson (Josh), Noah Malpass (Marlee), Ashlee Hermanns (Ian), Jordan Pickrel (Caroline Edmunds), Josiah Pickrel (Hollyn Milam), Lucas Pickrel, Shiloh Pickrel and Noelle Pickrel; great grandchildren, Isaiah Cook, Kinley Keesee, Ellaree Keesee, Liam Keesee, Levi Ferguson, Wyatt Hermanns, Ginny Malpass, Eloise Malpass, Elijah Newby and Scarlett Newby; brother-in-law, Billy Preston and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, October 25, 2026 at 3:00 pm at Colbert-Moran Chapel with Mr. Mark Pickrel officiating. Interment will follow the service in Gretna Burial Park.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and at other times will be at 2240 Riddle Rd. Chatham, VA, 24531.
