Lynchburg…..Ella Evelyn Peak Mitchell, age 93 of Lynchburg formerly of Gretna died Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the Lynchburg Health & Rehab Center.
Born March 2, 1920 in the Mt. Airy community, she was a daughter of the late Alonza M. Peak and Mary King Peak. She was predeceased by her husband, James Henry Mitchell and a brother Irvin Peak. She was a member of the Baptist Tabernacle of Altavista, and was a home maker. Mrs. Mitchell enjoyed farming and bingo.
She is survived by one son, Franklin Owen Mitchell and wife, Betty of Amherst; three grandchildren, Michael Proffitt, Sr. and his wife, Debbie, Sherman Massie, Jr. and his wife, Tara, and Johnny Proffitt and his wife, Rhonda; six great-grandchildren; three great-great- grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Lynn Marstin. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 10 to 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
