Gretna…..Elizabeth Rowland Shelton, age 91 of Gretna died Wednesday, September 27, 2017.
Born October 2, 1925 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Richard Edward Rowland, Sr. and Viola Kennedy Rowland. She was predeceased by her husband, Oscar Irvin Shelton; one sister, Nadine Arthur; and an infant daughter. Mrs. Shelton was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gretna and was a home maker. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, dancing, flowers and gardening.
She is survived by two daughters, Cathy S. Jones and husband Pete of Danville and Sylvia S. Blair and friend, Kenny Geyer of Chatham; one brother, R.E. Rowland and wife, Charlotte of Gretna; one grandson, Justin Blair; and Kenny's son, Addison Geyer.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Gretna by Rev. Dr. Roy M. Ford, Jr. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her daughter, Sylvia, 232 Hill and Dale Farm Road, Chatham.
