Java…….Elizbeth Coles Geyer, age 70 of Java passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born December 2, 1955 she was a daughter of William Patton Coles, Jr. and Mary Vaden Coles. She was predeceased by one sister, Connie Whitehead. Elizabeth loved animals deeply, especially rescue animals, and gave her heart to caring for them. She cherished her horses and found true peace on the farm, where she was grateful to continue living in her childhood home and doing what brought her joy. She especially loved spending time in her "she shed," a place where her creativity and spirit truly shined. She was an extraordinary woman with a creative soul, always finding happiness in making crafts and sharing them with others. Above all, she loved her family and her love, kindness, and strength will forever live on in those who knew her.

She is survived by her significant other, Jerry Shedd of Java; one daughter, Christie Reno Lowe of CA; four sisters, Mary Meadows of Java, Becky Best of Virginia Beach, Linda Bailey of Virginia Beach and Delores Thurman of Roanoke; one brother, John Hurt Whitehead of Urbanna; two grandchildren, Cade Lowe and Cayla Lowe;  a niece, Kristen Thompson Smith and Justin of Gretna; a nephew, Brian Thompson of Java; a great-niece, Riley Thompson; and two great-nephews, Brenden Smith and Easton Smith.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that friends go out and sow some wildflowers or plant a tree in her memory.
