Hurt……Elizabeth Dalton Chumley, age 74 of Hurt died Friday, May 7, 2021 at Accordius Health at Lynchburg.

Born August 29, 1946 in Franklin County, she was a daughter of the late Russell Clayborne Dalton and Maybelle Hodges Dalton.  She was predeceased by her husband, Fred Anderson Chumley, Jr.; two brothers, Harold Dalton, and Darrell Dalton; one granddaughter, Claire Myers; and one great-grandson, Collin Rice.  Mrs. Chumley was a member of Altavista Church of Christ and she retired from Capps Shoe Company.  She loved her chickens, and her family, especially her great- grandchildren.  She enjoyed attending church and reading her Bible.

She is survived by three daughters, Sue Monroe of Gretna, Wanda Rice of Hurt, and Janet Doss and husband, Bobby of Gretna; one sister, Carolyn Faye Walker and husband, Mike of Rocky Mount; five grandchildren, Brandy, Jessica, Sandra, Jonathan, and Amber; and eleven great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Herman, Jr., Kevontae, Brandyn, J.T., Alyssa, Xander, Jesse, Ryan, McKenzie, and Bryar.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 9, 2021 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Lory Brafford, Minister.  Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Bobby Doss, 33300 U.S. Highway 29, Gretna.
