Eliza Fitzgerald Yeatts
Sandy Level………. Eliza F. Yeatts passed away Sunday, April 9 at the age of 101. She was born October 23, 1915 to Bard and Margaret Fitzgerald in Gretna Va. She graduated from Radford College in 1938 and married Guy H. Yeatts in 1943. She was predeceased by her husband, Guy H. Yeatts, Sr.; one grandson, Rusty Yeatts; one brother, Ed Fitzgerald; and one sister, Margaret Mann. Eliza taught in the Pittsylvania School system and retired as a librarian at Chatham Elementary School in 1970. She was a long time member of Liberty Christian Church. She took great pleasure in doing for others. Eliza knitted hundreds of hats which were then given to those in need. She was a member of the Gretna Chapter No. 118 Order of the Eastern Star, a former member of the Pittsylvania County Education Association, Virginia Education Association and the National Education Association.
She is survived by her sons Bobby Yeatts and his wife Libby Reynolds Yeatts, Guy Howard Yeatts, Jr., her daughter Carol and her husband, Jerry Radcliffe. She is survived by 5 grandchildren, Andy Radcliffe and wife, Jennifer, Alison Sharp and husband, Jon, Stacey Haskins and husband, Jeff, Jason Yeatts and Matthew Yeatts and wife, Dana and 8 great grandchildren. The family is grateful to Tammy Dowdy who provided care, love and companionship for many years.
Services will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 12th at Liberty Christian Church by Wayne Grinnell, Minister and Rev. Jason Andrews. Calling hours will be the hour before the service. Interment will be immediately following the service in Liberty Memorial Cemetery.
