Gretna……….Eleanor Wyatt Shotwell, age 91 of Gretna died Sunday, August 26, 2012 at the Gretna Health and Rehab Center.
Born February 12, 1921 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Wyatt and Ethel Hankins Wyatt. She was predeceased by her husband, Emmett Morgan Shotwell; five brothers and four sisters, Walter Wyatt, Jack Wyatt, Jerry Wyatt, Roy Wyatt, Ben (Pete) Wyatt, Ginger Wyatt, Louise Patterson, Betty Jean Wyatt and Rachel Wyatt. Mrs. Shotwell was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, a graduate of Longwood College and was retired from the Pittsylvania County School System. She enjoyed gardening, working, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Lu Harper and husband, Jimmy of Brookneal and Jackie Hunt and husband, Jimmy of Penhook; two brothers, Mack Wyatt and wife, Georgia of Staunton and Billy Wyatt and wife, Mattie of Gretna; one granddaughter, Morgan Hunt Creasy and husband, Heath of Altavista.
Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 27, 2012 at Gretna Burial Park by Rev. R.G. Rowland.
The family would like to thank all the staff at the Gretna Health & Rehab Center and especially her roommate, Madalene Saunders for the excellent care and attention that she received.
