Eleanor Williams Chadwell of Jonesville, Virginia passed away on June 19, 2026 at Good Samaritan Hospice House in Roanoke, Virginia.  She was the wife of the late Ikey Joe Chadwell.

She was born February 3, 1943 in Smyth County, Virginia, daughter of John Wesley Williams and Stella Hart Williams.

An educator for over 30 years, Eleanor cherished teaching the children of Lee County.  She loved hearing from her former students and learning about their successes and families.

Eleanor loved to travel and sponsored travel abroad trips for students in the area.  She also traveled with her friends to various beautiful destinations.

Eleanor's favorite activity was spending time with her family and her sister's family, especially the many Fourth of July vacations at Smith Mountain Lake.

She was preceded in death by her son Joseph Wesley Chadwell. She is survived by son Kelly Steele Chadwell of Jonesville, Virginia; sister, Patty Eller (Johnson) of Altavista, Virginia; granddaughters, Ashley Bruner (Jordan) of Jonesville, Virginia; Lesley Meyer (Garret) of Bristol, Tennessee; Brooks Chadwell of Jonesville, Virginia; great grandchildren, Evelyn Bruner, Avery Bruner, and Owen Meyer.
