Hurt………Elder Marvin Brumfield, age 91 of Hurt died Thursday, October 13, 2022 at his residence.

Born October 25, 1930 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Albert Clyde Brumfield and Ruth Vasser Brumfield.  He was predeceased by a son, Lyn Brumfield; a grandson, Chris Smith; two brothers, Edgar "San" Brumfield and Morris Dalton; and three sisters, Avis Brumfield, Hazel Dolan and Fay Dalton.  Elder Brumfield retired from Babcock and Wilcox and he was an ordained minister for over 30 years.  He enjoyed turkey hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Murphy Brumfield of the residence; one son, Troy Brumfield and wife, Beth of Brookneal; one daughter Joan Smith of Gretna; two sisters, Gladys Ward of Hurt and Eliza Adams of Gretna; four grandchildren, Heather Boyles and husband, David, Kelly Garbee and husband, Adam, Todd Brumfield and wife, Katie, and Dustin Brumfield; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 17, 2022 at Weatherford Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Raymond Goad, Elder Jimmy Gray, and Elder Junior Conner.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Weatherford Primitive Baptist Church and other times will be at the residence of his daughter, Joan Smith, 4112 Music Street, Gretna.
