Eileen Patterson Houston, 65, of Sandy Level, VA and formerly of Roanoke, passed from this life on October 3, 2012 in the comfort of her home surrounded by loving family, following a brief illness.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley Patterson, Sr. and Mary Patterson Solovey, mother-in-law Virginia M. Houston, and brother John Wesley Patterson II. Left to cherish her memory are her husband and best friend of 43 years, Norris M. Houston; daughters, Beth Bond and Marnie Staud (Blair) both of Columbus, OH, Kelly Houston of Roanoke, and Sarah Richmond (Tommy) of Fayetteville, AR; sister, Kathleen Wyse of Decatur, Georgia; father-in-law, John M. Houston of West Chester, PA; brother-in-law, Jim (Marcia) Houston of Reading, PA; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Eileen's generous nature and vivacious sense of humor left countless friends to mourn her loss.

Eileen achieved her Masters Degree in Social Work and worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for many years, specializing in Geriatrics and Behavioral Health Services. Her gift and calling in life was helping others, both in her work and in her relationships, and she did so passionately and selflessly.

The family will host a celebration of Eileen's life on Sunday, October 7, 2012 beginning at noon at her home in Sandy Level; 7821 Grassland Drive. Funeral Services will be held at a later date with final interment at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Alzheimer's Association or The Waldron College of Health and Human Services at Radford University.
