Gretna……….Edward "Ed" Wayne Worley, age 77 of Gretna, died Monday, September 26, 2022.

Born November 20, 1944 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Henry C. Worley, Sr. and Lillian "Sue" Lumpkins Brumfield. He was predeceased by two brothers, Warren Worley and Henry C. Worley, Jr. Mr. Worley was a member at Straightstone Baptist Church, served in U.S. Navy and retired from Schrader-Bridgeport after 42 years. He was a member of the Renan Volunteer Fire Department for 26 years and the Masons, Riceville Lodge 61 A.F. & A.M. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching wrestling. Ed enjoyed reading history books and being around people, he never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife, Janie Brooks Worley of the residence; two special nephews, David Brooks and wife, Olivia and Michael Brooks and wife, Renee; a special great-nephew, Ollie Walker Brooks; a special great-niece, Laney Brooks; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews.

Graveside services with military honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232 will be conducted 11:00 Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden by Rev. James Manuel.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Renan Volunteer Fire Department and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
