Edward (Pinky) Holbrook

Gretna…..Edward Lee (Pinky) Holbrook, age 57 of 2808 Spring Road, Gretna, died Thursday, September 29, 2011 at his residence.
Born January 11, 1954 in Halifax County, he was a son of the late John Wesley Holbrook and Sallie Wilbourne Holbrook. He was predeceased by three brothers, Floyd Holbrook, Andrew Holbrook and Chester Holbrook and two nephews, Timothy Ray Holbrook and Thomas Wayne Oakley. He was a tree trimmer for Bartlett Tree Co. and Holbrook Tree Co. Mr. Holbrook enjoyed looking after his chickens, going to flea markets and tinkering on cars.
He is survived by one brother, James Oliver Holbrook, Sr. and wife, Ann of Pelham, NC; and two sisters, Sallie Ann Nelson and husband, Emmett of Milton, NC and Daisy Koch of Milton, NC; a grandson, Kirin Jacobs; nieces and nephews, Peggy Chambers, Susan Sanderson, James Holbrook, Jr., Michael Earl Oakley, John Lee Oakley, Kenneth Rodney Koch, Floyd Holbrook, Jr., Bruce Wayne Holbrook, Angela Hayden, Elizabeth Marie Holbrook and Stephanie Holbrook; Godchildren, Dustin Jacobs and Kevin Jacobs; and very special friends, David and Brenda Jacobs .
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Liberty Memorial Cemetery by Rev. Dr. Kendell Smith.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
