Gretna……….Edward "Zeke" Monroe Keesee, age 92 of Gretna died Monday, October 21, 2024 at his residence.

Born April 17, 1932 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late William Lundy Keesee and Ruth Pickral Keesee.  He was predeceased by his wife, Betty Hancock Keesee; one brother, Willard Keesee; and four sisters, Marie Bandy, Hattie Lassiter, Lena Wilkes and Louise Yeatts.  Mr. Keesee was a farmer and farming was his life.  He was a very active member of Greenfield Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.  He was a RA leader; and went on several mission trips, including trips to Africa, and Mississippi and Louisiana following hurricane Katrina.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by two daughters, Ellen Farmer and husband, Eddie of Gretna and Tammy Matherly and husband, William of Gretna; one sister, Norris Wilkes of Gretna; two grandchildren, Willie Matherly and wife, Elayne of Sandy Level and Cody Matherly and wife, April of Gretna; one step-grandson, Jessie Farmer; two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Kolter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Greenfield Baptist Church by Rev. R.G. Rowland.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and William Matherly, 1634 Pittsville Road, Gretna.
