Gretna………Edward Sidney "Ed" Goad, Sr., age 80 of Gretna died Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Runk and Pratt Nursing Home in Forest.

Born October 7, 1941 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Russell Lewis Goad and Lucille Shelton Goad.  Mr. Goad attended Weatherford Primitive Baptist Church and he was a farmer.  He loved playing golf and the guitar.

He is survived by one son, Ed Goad, Jr. of Concord; one brother, Elder Raymond Goad and wife, Ann of Gretna; two sisters, Mabel Hedrick of Gretna and Diane Scott and husband, Butch of Altavista; and a special friend, Joyce Gay of Gretna.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Weatherford Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Raymond Goad and Elder Jimmy Gray.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Weatherford Primitive Baptist Church and other times will be at the residence of his sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Butch Scott, 37 Glade Court, Altavista.
