Edith Marie Yarborough, age 83 of Salem passed away Monday, August 18, 2025 at Autumn Care Nursing and Rehab of Altavista.

Born February 20, 1942 in Harnett County, NC, she was a daughter of the late James Cecil Yarborough and Ethel Marie Dull Yarborough.  Edith was a member of Penn Forest Wesleyan Church and was the owner/operator of Alpha Christian Bookstore. Edith enjoyed serving Jesus by ministering through the youth, being a DJ at a local Christian Radio Station and later owning her own Christian Bookstore in Salem. She also served as Youth President for the Virginia District.

She is survived by one brother, Alfred Yarborough and wife, Sandra of Forest; and two nephews, Tracy Yarborough and wife, Sharon of Evington and Dean Yarborough of Rustburg; three great-nephews, Tyler Yarborough (Angel), Kyle Yarborough (Mindy) and Cody Yarborough (Claire); four great-great-nephews, Trace, Eli, Grayson and Hunter; and two great-great-nieces, Taylor and Wren.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2025 at White's Church by Tracy Yarborough.  Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2025 at White's Church and other times will be at the residence of Tracy and Sharon Yarborough, 37 Slope Lane Evington, VA 24550.

Special thanks to Sharon Yarborough for care given to Edith during these last few months and her best friend, Sue Givens of Salem, Virginia for her support, care and friendship that meant so much to the Yarborough family.
